About UsThe History of theTRY ProgramTeaching and Restoring Youth, TRY, has been serving young women in Buffalo since 1997. However, the roots of the program date back to 1990.The TRY Program literally opened its doors in December, 1997 after 7 long years of planning, fund raising and preparation. In the years since TRY opened its doors, close to 200 young women have been in residence. The Board members bring a wide range of expertise helping to determine the direction of the organization. The Try Program is located in a former convent at 228 Brinkman Avenue in Buffalo.

Dining room - a favorite gathering place for both meals and conversation decorated by local artists Sherri Misso and Sally Runfola.

Residents cook alongside staff in our kitchen which was renovated with the help of local unions through the United Way.

Each girl has their own bedroom renovated during our Extreme Room Makeover in 2007.

Exercise and recreation are encouraged in the renovated exercise room. Volunteer Lisa Walter teaches yoga to the residents.

The recreation room was given a new coat of paint and carpeting by employees of Citi during thier global community outreach project.

The computer room is a quiet space for studies. The Clarence Contemporary Club including local artist Linda Dugan created a tranquil environment .

The Creative Arts Room is a favorite spot where volunteer Molly Coffey coordinates art and craft activites for the girls.
